Doesn’t it look like each successive ad is a cut-n-paste of the previous ad? And, each one has the identical mind-numbing headlines that you will more than likely never click on and the same lackluster descriptions in the text? And then when you finally find a well worded, catchy headline, the text copy puts you to sleep? Here’s the skinny . . . most ads you will ever read makes baking your own ads a piece of cake.
Simply stated, you will have no competition if you learn to write with the secrets I’m about to describe. And your greatest benefit will be that people actually click on your ads, whether you want them to or not. Let’s get started.
Whenever you’re writing an ad, whether for Craigslist, Backpage, MLS, or any other online service, keep the thought of curiosity and your five senses on your mind at all times. You must remember, at this point you are not selling anything in your ad, you are just trying to get a click-thru to your Website.
The combination of your five senses and their curiosity are the only strategies you will ever need. These are the real secrets to guiding your customer into doing what you want them to do, click-thru to your site. First and foremost what you do not do, never copy someone else’s ad. Does it excite you? Then why use it? What you want to do is create excitement in your audiences’ nerve endings that begins with the headline, follows into your text, and clicks through to your Website.
How do you build excitement into a crescendo? There’s a commercial on television for perfume. Their ploy to manufacture excitement is to NOT mention the name until the last few seconds of this commercial. The entire commercial builds on the excitement of “striking boy meets gorgeous girl and romance begins”. It finishes with a photo and the name of the perfume. You’ve all seen this, right?
You can use this same secret if you start thinking story. Craft a tale that starts within your headline, tie this theme to the text body of your ad, and then leave your customer questioning about how this all ends and to find out, they must click-thru to your Website, squeeze page, listing, etcetera.
Let’s try this out. Bear in mind that your headline must have a minimum of one word that ties your headline to whatever you’re selling. We’re going to work with a combination of the five senses and curiosity. If you’re looking for buyers for your properties, you must have something about homes, houses, apartments, buying, etc. in your headline.
Maybe we could write something like; “Buying the Best Homes will Offer You that Feeling of Success.”
Your text body might then read; Only the best homes, prepared right and priced right, are going to sell in this market. You might not be looking for the best, but call us and discover just how far your dollar will stretch. You may not spend a million, but you’ll certainly feel like a million! Call now and discover why our properties sell first and sell fast.
Get ready to taste success as you feed your market a pot full of advertising themes cooked up with their own little story ingredients like this. Hear your phone ring incessantly, 24/7/365, as you create an unstoppable surge of leads that will be flowing in from your free online advertising sites, going to your Website, and then capturing their info in your opt-in box.
Just think about your five senses and building anticipation, curiosity, and suspense when you write any ad, online or in print. Have your headline lead to your text body lead to your Website.
Lock and Load friends, you’re primed and fully equipped!
