Homeowner is deceased

 Homeowner has past away and her boyfriend  lives there ,  she has no kids or husband .  I would like to know if it is possible to acquire a property like this or does it go back to

the County of the Bronx ?  Don't know what to do ?

First you need to establish who the legal owner is/was.  You can find this out with the block and lot number at the county court house.  Tell the information clerk exactly what you are trying to find out (they will tell you they are not sure but go ask so and so....) eventually you will get to probate and can ask to search the records.  Ususally you acan pull down the records in groups.  In my county you get about 25/page at a cost of 25 cents/page.  They reflect occurances that are about 6 weeks old and prior.  They will list the executor of the estate, call them and start asking your questions.
